How to Care for your Snap-On-Smile
During the initial insertion visit, there will be a 24-48 hour adaptation period for your tongue to acclimate to your Snap-On-Smile. In some cases, depending upon the amount of change to your teeth, this timeline could be longer.
Upon insertion, there will be a slight pressure placed on the teeth, similar to wearing a nightguard. This reaction is completely reversible with no ill or long-lasting side effects.
To remove your Snap-On-Smile, gently rock the appliance in a side-to-side gradual motion, starting with the molars.
You can eat and drink with your Snap-On-Smile, but you may choose to start with a softer diet and work your way up to harder, more substantial foods. Any foods or liquids that may stain your natural teeth (coffee, tea, red wine, blueberries, curry, etc.) can stain your Snap-On-Smile as well.
Remove your Snap-On-Smile when you are sleeping. You can use a denture cleaner for daily cleaning of your Snap-On-Smile.
Maintain normal hygiene for your natural teeth. Always brush and floss before inserting your Snap-On-Smile. It is a good idea to remove your Snap-On-Smile after eating and clean your appliance and your teeth as well. Failure to do this can cause food to be trapped under your Snap-On-Smile and can put you at risk for cavities or gum irritation. To clean your Snap-On-Smile, use a soft toothbrush and normal toothpaste.
Maintain normal hygiene visits with Dr. Alfe during the time you are wearing your Snap-On-Smile.
Remember, the more careful you are with your Snap-On-Smile, the longer it will last you. If you experience anything other than what Dr. Alfe discussed with you, please call our office immediately.
